KREAN has drawn up the execution project and has been in charge of the site management and construction management, as well as the achievement of LEED Certification for the new SORALUCE assembly plant at its headquarters in the Osintxu district of Bergara (Gipuzkoa). SORALUCE is a leader in milling, boring, multifunction and automation solutions.
The new plant has a floor area of around 2,500 m², which is divided into an industrial area for machine assembly, and an annex building for offices and changing rooms. The design of the building represents the needs of SORALUCE, creating a large industrial building with a span of 20.50m for its production stations. Although it is not visible at first glance, the building is made up of three different volumes: the production area, the rear chamfered area with a lower height (to make the most of the plot's buildable area) and the office annexe.
The entire building has been erected with prefabricated concrete panels and a second metal skin has been added to connect all the volumes. The choice of this corrugated sheet metal together with the black plinth has been key in the design of the company's new image.
The new assembly plant is designed and built from parameters of excellence in sustainability and has obtained LEED GOLD certification, being the first in its sector to have this sustainable building certification that recognises and values the efforts of organisations to design, construct and operate buildings that are environmentally friendly and efficient in the use of resources. It assesses building geometry, building envelope, glazing, façade orientation, water consumption reduction, land use and landscaping, project life cycle and many other aspects.
In terms of energy efficiency, the new building implements technologies and practices that significantly reduce energy consumption, including a 131 kW photovoltaic installation on the roof that provides 55% of the energy consumed by the building. Sustainable water management combines consumption reduction solutions with recycling systems. On the other hand, finishing materials, thermal insulation, ceilings and partitions with low emissions and low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) content have been used, and in terms of measures to promote sustainable mobility, electric charging sockets have been installed in 5% of the car park and a bicycle parking space.
