THE PROJECT
New vestibule for Anoeta station in Donostia-San Sebastián
LOCATION
Donostia-San Sebastián

KREAN, in a joint venture with ASMATU, is supporting the Works Management of Euskal Trenbide Sarea (ETS) in the construction of a second access vestibule to Anoeta station on the Lasarte-Hendaia Topo line, at the end of the platforms in the direction of Hendaye.

The coming into service in the next few years of the Donostia railway bypass has led to an analysis of the functionality of Anoeta station, which currently has a single access at the end of the line towards Amara and the adaptation of the station in the platform area.

The solution involves developing a new, fully accessible lobby, with fixed stairs and accessible lifts, which will allow access to the platforms on the Hendaye side of the station, opposite the current lobby, and both will have to be enlarged to adapt their geometry to the new solution. So that the implementation of this second concourse does not entail a loss of space or pedestrian mobility in Anoeta square in front of the football stadium, the surface area of the square will be enlarged, and for this purpose it is necessary to rearrange the adjacent road system, The final solution has been adopted in consensus with the Donostia-San Sebastián City Council, together with the location of the new concourse itself, as well as its design and the remodelling of the current concourse, which is finally being replaced so that both concourses harmonise with the recently renovated image of the Anoeta football stadium. To this end, some housings have been designed to achieve an integrated image of the Station-Stadium environment by harmonising their architectural finishes, achieving a coherent global proposal for the integration of the new railway equipment. It also includes the adaptation of the station at platform level to the standards of the Donostialdea metro line.

In order to increase the space available in Anoeta square, it is necessary to propose the displacement and reorganisation of the surrounding road system, which also includes the Aita Donostia roundabout and the implementation of a new roundabout on the way up to hospitals along Dr. Begiristain street, which means an adaptation of road and cycle traffic in this urban environment. This remodelling also includes the idea of rearranging the bus stops, placing the stops associated with the future EIB (Intelligent Electric Bus) line in the vicinity of the new vestibule and reducing the flows coming from the pedestrian crossing coming from Avenida Madrid, favouring functional intermodality, with faster and more direct transfers between the two systems.
