- THE PROJECT
- Master plan for the comprehensive regeneration of the bay of Pasaia
- LOCATION
- Pasaia, Gipuzkoa
The objective of the Masterplan is the planning of the future of the Bay of Pasaia in a scenario in which the port activity of the Port of Pasaia is transferred to a future Exterior Port. The area extends to around 80 hectares and affects 4 municipalities: Donostia-San Sebastián, Errenteria, Pasaia and Lezo.
The LKS proposal, created in collaboration with the Dutch team, KCAP, was the winner of the ideas competition organised for this purpose, being among the 5 teams selected to present their proposals from among the 47 applications submitted (24 foreign teams and 23 national teams).
The proposal aims to recover the port space for the configuration of a new urban space that links the fabric of the municipalities affected around the stretch of water. A mixture of residential and commercial uses, economic activities and amenities is proposed, with a high building density (+ 800,000 m2t for lucrative purposes). One of the most important features is the opening of the stretch of water for public use, with a 6.5 km promenade, new public spaces and leisure and sporting uses on the water's surface. The public transport system is based on the existing railways, with internal bus and motor shuttles.
