THE PROJECT
Hydrogen test benches at Energy Intelligence Center
LOCATION
Abanto, Bizkaia

Technical specifications for the purchase of hydrogen test benches and basic engineering for their integration in the Energy Intelligence Center (EIC) building in Abanto-Zierbena, Bizkaia.

Technical Team:

LKS KREAN ECS, S.L.

Synopsis:

The Provincial Council of Bizkaia in its 2020 Sustainable Energy Strategy identifies hydrogen as one of its lines of intelligent specialisation. This is reflected in actions such as support for the Basque Hydrogen Corridor initiative and, as a key part of this, the creation of a unit dedicated to hydrogen in the Energy Intelligence Center (EIC), which is currently under construction in the Left Bank Technology Park (Abanto-Zierbena). This building is intended to become a centre for technological development and R&D&I projects in the fields of Oil & Gas, electricity transmission and distribution and sustainable mobility.

The building will have a Living Lab to carry out demonstration and development activities on the possibilities offered by hydrogen in different sectors. As part of the equipment required in this Living Lab, priority has been given to the installation of four test benches that will allow:

  • Carry out tests on hydrogenerator components
  • Carry out tests on hydrogen generation systems from reforming, cracking and separation processes from different inlet gas streams.
  • Perform tests on hydrogen separation systems from various mixtures
  • Testing of hydrogen engines

KREAN draws up the technical specifications for the purchase of these benches, as well as the basic engineering in which, based on the needs of each of the test benches, the requirements to be met by the building are defined in order to be able to house them safely.
