Project:

Railway Platform of the Cantabrian-Mediterranean High-Speed Railway Corridor, Castejón-Pamplona Region Section. Subsection II: Cadreita-Villafranca.

Synopsis:

It is a high-speed line suitable for mixed passenger and freight traffic that will link the Mediterranean coast with the Atlantic coast, thus providing an easier connection between these two important geographical areas without the need to pass through the centre of the Iberian Peninsula, changing the initial proposal of exclusive passenger traffic.

The Sub-section runs entirely through the Autonomous Community of Navarra, through the municipalities of Cadreita and Villafranca. It is 8,578.198 m long. (between Km 106+195 and 114+773.198).

Its route runs practically parallel to the east of the AP-15 motorway. It has been  designed for a maximum speed of 350 km/h, has a minimum radius of 6,500 metres in plan and a maximum slope of 14.5 thousandths in elevation.

A Train Overtaking and Parking Post (PAET) will be located at the beginning of the line, where a transversal gallery for services will be provided.

At Km 106+240 the HSL platform crosses the Valfondo Valley where there is a transversal drainage works, a 2 x (5x2.5) metre two-sided frame.

Along the route there are five subways (at kilometre 107+980 and 110+100 for the crossing of livestock tracks and at 111+120; 112+800 and 114+020 for agricultural roads) of 8.00 metres span (the one at kilometre 114+020 is 10 metres) and approximately 6.00 metres in height.

Also, two overpasses have been built, one at Km 109+120 over the LAV, and the other over the AP-15 motorway at Km 114+070 of the LAV, for the exclusive passage of fauna, built parallel to the existing overpass over the AP-15.

Between Km 110+500 and 111+100, the platform of the high-speed line runs along an "ad hoc" corridor located in a photovoltaic energy park.

At Km 111+580, a 133.0 metre long viaduct has been built for crossing the Barranco Salado ravine, with three spans (40+53+40 metres).

Between Km 114+000 and 114+773 the line approaches the AP-15 motorway, which has made it necessary to build a 320 m long wall to replace the left slope.
