KREAN ID JUNDIZ, formed by Krean Group and the construction company Zikotz, has developed the cold logistics platform which is the main base in the Basque Country for the distribution of fresh produce by Eroski.
The development, which has been carried out on the land of the former municipal slaughterhouse of Vitoria in Jundiz, has been acquired by the investment fund BellGreenOak.
It is a 17,594 m2 building on a 27,431 m2 plot. It has 30 berths for heavy vehicles, which allow the daily operation of more than 400 tonnes of fresh and frozen products. The building is temperature-controlled, positively refrigerated and/or frozen in its entirety.
The environmental commitment shared by Eroski and the Krean Group is embodied in the LEED GOLD environmental certification, which guarantees maximum energy efficiency, especially important in a refrigeration plant.
The platform also houses the corporate headquarters of the Eroski Group's fresh produce business, with more than 2,000m² of offices.
In addition to the support of the aforementioned firms, the operation has been viable thanks to the active collaboration and advice, from the outset, of Logadvisory and Proequity, and the law firms of Eduardo Bárbara and Herbert Smith Freehills. We would also like to thank the authorities responsible for granting licences and ensuring compliance with current legislation, mainly the Vitoria City Council and the water and energy supply companies, Amvisa and Iberdrola, for their collaboration.
KREAN has been responsible for the design, control and supervision of the projects and works, together with Bureau Veritas, Dokei and Servasco.
The development of this project began in 2017 with the search for and development of land alternatives to implement the platform required by Eroski, studying different locations in Álava, work carried out by KKREAN with the collaboration of all public and private agents in the province.
Once the location had been chosen, project development began which, following the KREAN way of doing things, involved the agents responsible for carrying out the operation as partners from the outset, and with the continuous collaboration of Eroski.
Eroski is showing its logistical and technological leadership with this infrastructure, which is complemented by the one already available in Amorebieta in its bid to be a benchmark for fresh produce in the Basque Country.
Finally, it should be pointed out that with this project, KREAN is responding to the challenge of positioning itself as an integral operator in the development of projects, consolidating its commitment to Álava as a fundamental point of distribution within the Basque Country and the Iberian Peninsula.
