- THE PROJECT
- Bridgeport
- LOCATION
- Cartagena, Colombia
Bridgeport is a 100% private investment of 32 hectares dedicated to logistics, transportation, both modal and inter-modal, postal services, and other amenities. It is the first development of its kind in Colombia to be awarded LEED (Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design) certification.
Cartagena is the port of Colombian-American trade, receiving and originating more than 60% of containerised cargo. Through its terminals it has 18 direct scheduled services with weekly frequency to US ports, with exports and imports of multiple products.
To be competitive, logistics terminals have to handle different product characteristics some of which have highly specialised transport logistics. In the case of refrigerated products, the cold chain must be guaranteed, and in the case of containers, there must be the capacity to handle them, since their characteristics and needs are different from those of last-mile logistics.
At Bridgeport, as it is a multi-modal multi-client platform, there is a significant contribution of value in the study of optimisation of the modulations in each space, taking into account uses, surfaces, circulation, berths, docks, quays and characteristics and measurements of the vehicles. The KREAN design allows for the cohabitation of different types of logistics and businesses in a common ecosystem which, in turn, shares services of interest and necessity for all.
