This is an inter-cooperation project that involves 9 companies with the aim of collaborating strategically in the hotel and social-health sectors.
The new Hotel Thompson Madrid was the place chosen to present the MONDRAGON Hospitality project. This is a new collaboration project with the MONDRAGON hallmark, which has been conceived with the aim of joining forces and constituting a grouped offer for the hotel, tourism and socio-health sectors.
With a commitment to innovation and development, this cluster aims to cooperate in the hospitality and socio-health sectors to achieve common benefits. "More than a year ago, we had the dream of creating the first cluster of equipment and service providers in this industry. The outcome is that together we can grow and stay close to our customers" explained Ramón Gómez Ugalde, Chairman of MONDRAGON Hospitality and Corporate Director of the Onera Group.

The event, which was presented within the framework of an interesting monographic conference on the sector, was attended by numerous institutional representatives, heads of hotel chains, investment funds, socio-health managers, architects, interior designers, project managers and other professionals from the sector.
Round table on hotel and socio-health investment
After the project presentation, the attendees listened to a lecture by the architect, Carlos Llansó, project manager of the THOMPSON Madrid project, which is the first Hyatt project with this premium brand in Europe.
The round table on "Hotel and socio-health investment in Spain", moderated by Iñaki Ortega, PhD in Economics and director of MAPFRE, included the main investment funds in the sector, with Victor Martí, founder and CEO of GMA Corporate / ATOM Hoteles Socimi, Javier Arús, managing partner of AZORA, Enrique de Solis, investment director of MILLENIUM Hospitality Real State, and Jorge Guarner, Chairman of HEALTHCARE Activos.
The importance of investment for creating value in the sector was discussed, as well as the benefits of cooperation between companies, in order to provide an agile and quality response to the new demands in tourism and health.
MONDRAGON Hospitality: 4,000 people, 500 million in aggregate turnover
Iñigo Ucín, Chairman of the MONDRAGON General Council, was in charge of introducing MONDRAGON Hospitality, a collaboration that aims to "join forces to multiply abilities" and "show the breadth and diversity of our range of products and services for the sector". In this "extremely difficult climate for companies", Ucín stressed the need to collaborate, and "at MONDRAGON we do it internally and we also want to do it with other companies and institutions", he added.
The co-operatives and companies taking part in MONDRAGON Hospitality currently employ over 4,000 people in activities linked to the hotel, tourism and socio-health sectors. These companies also have a turnover of more than 500 million euros, making the project one of the main initiatives in industrial activities and services related to the tourism, hotel and socio-health sector in Spain.
To conclude the event, Almudena Maíllo, Madrid's Councillor for Tourism, congratulated MONDRAGON for the great work it is doing, boosting the growth of the sector. "The transformation that Madrid is undergoing is thanks to investments like those made by MONDRAGON, who have created a strategic vision for working on tourism and health".
