- THE PROJECT
- Engineering and technical assistance at PETRONOR
- LOCATION
- Muskiz, Bizkaia
The Petronor refinery was the first to produce unleaded petrol in Spain. It has a conversion chart (Reformed, FCC, Viscosity breaking and Mild-hydrocracker) and a distillation capacity of 12 million tonnes/year (MTm/year). It consists of two traditional refineries, a delayed coker plant and associated product treatment units, also including two hydrogen production units and a vacuum diesel desulphurisation unit. The conversion process is equipped with vacuum distillation, viscosity reduction and FCC units in addition to the product treatment units to achieve the goal of minimising the amount of heavy oil derivatives.
Covering an area of 220 hectares, it has a storage capacity of 894,000 m3 of crude oil, 1,279,000 tonnes of raw materials, 922,000 m3 of finished products and 254,600 m3 of semi-finished products.
KREAN has had a framework agreement with Petronor since 2014 for engineering and operation and maintenance drawings, with stable equipment at the refinery providing in-plant support to the same being one of the plant's primary consultants. Petronor has also relied on KREAN for medium-sized investment projects since 2019.
