- VITORIA-GASTEIZ
Even though Michelin has been established in Spain (Lasarte) since 1934, it wasn't until 1966 that it opened its factory in Vitoria, which was to become one of its most important industrial centres in Europe. Michelin currently has four factories in Spain, in addition to the commercial management, an advanced testing centre and two large logistics distribution centres where products are received before being re-dispatched to the rest of the world.
The Vitoria factory is the largest of Michelin España Portugal, S.A., and accounts for 50% of the brand's production. It occupies a 43-hectare site, and directly employs 3,255 people, making it one of the largest companies in the city. The factory with its own in-house wire drawing shop - manufactures metal wires and metal fabric, which it then forms into the tyre structure – and rubber goods. By volume, half of its production consists of tyres for public works and mining machinery, and the other half are tyres for passenger cars of all types.
KREAN has been working for more than 15 years for Michelin in Vitoria and more than 10 years in Lasarte, currently in the format of a Framework Agreement for all types of activities, in addition to having designed the two logistics and distribution centres in de Illescas and Araia. It has recently expanded its offices, designed a building for a 4th de rubber line and has completed work on the warehouse in Toledo province, with more than 50,000 m2 of warehouses for the storage of roofing products.
