Synopsis:

LKS-KREAN drafts and designs the Layout and Construction Project, carrying out the environmental and road safety measures necessary to obtain final approval.

The project consists of creating a new raised roundabout to allow movement towards the new technology park at a different level, with this same roundabout picking up the A-8 turnings from Santander or in the direction of Bilbao that originate in the immediate vicinity. In addition to this new raised roundabout, there is also a new northern roundabout on the N-639, which regulates traffic between Zierbena, Bao, exit A8 from Bilbao, exit A8 towards Santander.

The solution has 9 main axes with a total length of over 2,500 metres. The design of the project has required structural solutions of varying typology.

The raised roundabout is designed by means of two constructions consisting of a solid triangular slab of post-tensioned concrete built in situ and supported on the two abutments. The plan layout is curved with a constant radius of 31.5m. The deck has a constant width of 15.40 m and a camber varying between 2.07-2.5% along its entire length.

In addition to these structures, it is worth mentioning the extension of the bidegorri subway under the A-8 and reinforced concrete retaining walls for the approach and exit routes.

The project has been subjected to the road safety audit procedure, relating to the Construction Project phase, in accordance with the provisions of Provincial Decree 80/2014 of 24 June, of the DFB on the management of road infrastructure safety in the road network of the Historical Territory of Bizkaia.
