Synopsis:

LKS KREAN, successful bidder for the Consultancy and technical assistance contract for the drafting of the "Railway Access to Sagunto Port" project in a 50/50 joint venture with the company Prointec S.A., work began on 11 December 2007 and was completed on 25 October 2017.

Definition of the possible alternatives for a new railway branch, connecting the current Valencia-Tarragona line (Mediterranean Corridor) with the Sagunto port site in a way that is compatible with current and future traffic, in Iberian gauge and standard gauge, of the Mediterranean corridor.

The contract included a study of alternatives, an informative study (including an environmental impact study), a basic project and a construction project. Among the actions carried out, the following are noteworthy:

• Platform and mixed gauge track of the new railway branch line.
• Electrification of the line. Erection and installation of poles and overhead lines.
• Security and communication systems: All the necessary installations were defined to enable safe operation. 
• Integration of the railway. In addition to the preventive and corrective environmental measures, the reinstatement of all affected roads and services was contemplated.
